Interior ‘Street’
Retain Church and Hall
Connection to Community
The Community and Arts centre has grown around the existing church building and several surrounding buildings, stitched together with a covered walkway. The proposal utilises an interior ‘street’ to connect the existing buildings with the proposed new arts and studio spaces.
The site is set within an array of existing community facilities and the street concept encouraged the connection to these other adjacent users- the Marae, Library and Garden of Memories.
LSA did not continue as architect on this project. When the board of trustees and director of Uxbridge changed, Creative Spaces was engaged to complete this job with a revised brief.
